Once A Designer, Always A Designer

Why I Do What I Do.

I am ready and excited to push the limits of creativity and embark on my career as a product designer.

In 2022, I graduated from Temple University with my Bachelor’s degree in Public Relations and a minor in Japanese. There are a number of things that my education in public relations helps me with as I master UX/UI design. Public relations is all about creating trust between an organization and their target audience. In that, we have to help form and enhance a positive image of the organization to the public so that trust can turn into higher revenue, more consumers, and other beneficial things for organizations. As I design websites, I am keeping the interest of the users in mind and designing not for creativity’s sake, but directly for the users. With my PR background, I understand how to craft and foster that bond of trust between the organization and their users.

Dabbling in fashion design as a teenager, I always imagined my life as a designer and had my heart set on creating for a living. Taking my dream of being a designer to a different field doesn't only surprise me, but encourages me to be optimistic about the many potential opportunities this will bring me in my future career.

As I continue to build my portfolio and learn more about UX design, I learned that there is so much more than making pretty websites that goes into the job. I was surprised that research was a big part of UX. But after conducting my own research and interviewing people for my first case study, I now understand how important it is. Since we are designing for users, we need to know first hand what they need. Only by listening, can we prioritize people’s needs and meet their expectations.

I love putting together a brand image, tying in typography and colorography to illuminate what an organization wants users to feel. I am very excited to carry on all the responsibilities of a designer and create impressive work for future clients.

I am interested in a variety of fields, especially nonprofit and the arts. No matter where I take my skills, I know I will strive and blossom into a powerful and inspirational designer who gives back and encourages others.
